Assignments

The Assignment tool enables you to submit assignments in D2L, eliminating the need to mail, fax, or email your work to instructors. Simply upload your submission to the appropriate assignment folder and submit.

Access the Assignment tool

Click Assignments on the navbar.

Submit to an assignment folder

  1. On the Assignment Folders page, click on the folder you want to submit to.
  2. Click Add a File to browse for the file you want to submit. You can attach files from your local computer or storage device, a personal locker, a group locker, or ePortfolio.
  3. You can Add a File, Record Video, or Record Audio as feedback. When you finish a recording, click Add.
  4. Enter any Comments you want to submit with the file.
  5. Click Submit.

Any rubrics which submissions are evaluated with are listed on the submission page so you can see how submissions are evaluated.

Submitting group work to an assignment folder

Any user in your group can submit files to the assignment folder. The Submissions column indicates how many files your group has submitted.

  1. On the Assignment Folders page, click on the group assignment folder you want to submit to. Group assignment folders have a Group icon beside their names.
  2. Click Add a File to browse for the file you want to submit. You can attach files from your local computer or storage device, a personal locker, a group locker, or ePortfolio.
  3. You can Add a File, Record Video, or Record Audio as feedback. When you finish a recording, click Add.
  4. Enter any Comments you want to submit with the file.
  5. Click Submit.

Reviewing your assignment folder submission history

A list of submitted files displays on the Submission History page. You can view each file’s size, submission date, whether comments were included with it, and who has retrieved it. For group assignment folders, you can check who submitted each file.

  • Unread  The file has not been retrieved. 
  • Read  The file has been retrieved. (It may not have been read or graded.)

View submission history

  1. On the Assignment Folders page, click View History.
  2. Select the Folder you want to view from the drop-down list.

Viewing feedback in an Assignment

Feedback (including grades) associated with group assignment folders applies to the entire group.

  1. On the Assignment Folders page, click View in the Feedback column beside the folder containing your submission.
  2. View your grade, rubric assessment, and feedback comments.
  3. Click Download All Files to download feedback attachments.
  4. When you are finished viewing feedback, click Done.
